Now everyone loves a good juicy, meaty burger – I’m sorry veggies/vegans this post might not be for you although a lot of the restaurants I’m about to talk about also have great alternative options too, I’m just no expert on them.
HUBBOX
This is one of my absolute go-tos when I need a good burger. You can find Hubbox in Falmouth, Truro, St Ives and Saint Austell. All of the food here is amazing. I’ve tried most of the burgers, they also have some very nice looking hot dogs but I haven’t tried one of these yet myself.
Every month Hubbox releases a limited edition burger – I always love to come and try out the new ones. My favourite definitely was February’s special which was a peking duck burger! Absolutely 10/10.
Another one of my favourite dishes from here are their loaded fries, AMAZING. I always go for the “zero clucks given” which is fries topped with buttermilk fried halloumi, cheese sauce, sour cream, Korean bbq sauce, red chillis and coriander. Would definitely recommend going here – they also have a great cocktail menu.
BEER AND BIRD
Beer and Bird can be found in the beautiful seaside town of St Ives. The burgers here are a little bit more expensive than other burger places. However, they are well worth it!! There are also plenty of choices of vegetarian burgers here too. I recommend booking before coming here as it is usually always busy.
My go to burger here is the “Sweet Mercy”. This is a southern fried chicken burger with candied maple bacon, chilli jam and a WHOLE deep fried Camembert wheel!!! I also always upgrade my fries to the “filthy fries” everytime. The nacho cheese on these fries are amazing!
They have the largest selection of craft beers in the South West – this doesn’t mean much to me but they do have amazing cocktails and also serve their own handmade cider. I always try to go on a Wednesday for WING WEDNESDAY where it is buy one get one free on the plates of wings and there are so many to choose from!!
MEAT COUNTER
This restaurant can be found on the high street in Falmouth! It is quite a small place so I would recommend giving them a call to check there is a table available and not just turning up!
The meat on the burgers here is absolutely 10/10. The burgers are HUGE. They also serve hot dogs, wings and lots of vegetarian options despite their name! They also do a special burger each week which is great if you want to change up your usual order!
Of course I also have to always get the loaded fries here. My go to are the “animal style fries” which have cheese sauce, bacon, gherkins and onions on them.
HERD BURGER
This is found in Newquay. This is a little bit of a drive for me but it was SO worth it! They do not take bookings but they have lots of tables both upstairs and downstairs. The menu is quite small with 5 choices of burgers – some for meat eaters and some for veggies. I got the cheese beef burger and it was AMAZING. So juicy and so much cheese/sauce. I have only been here once but will definitely be back again. The breakfast menu also looks yummy!
They also have a selection of fries available including some delicious loaded fries. I got the cheese fries which are fries with cheese sauce, gherkins and onions. The brisket loaded fries also looked amazing.
We also decided to try some desserts whilst we were here. There were 3 choices of soft serve ice cream with toppings. You could choose chocolate, strawberry or salted caramel. We tried them all and they were all great.
