As much as there are plenty of good restaurants near to where I live in Falmouth, sometimes I like to travel a little further afield to explore more foodie spots. Sometimes I’m even willing to drive over an hour for a good bit of food.
The Atlantic
I’m going to start you off with one of my absolute favourite restaurants on the North Coast – the Atlantic in Polzeath (PL27 6UG).
This restaurant is situated with the most perfect view overlooking Polzeath beach. You can sit and watch the surfers enjoying the waves or enjoy looking out onto the most perfect sunset.

The food here is absolutely out of this world. The head chef (Grant) is amazing at what he does and always creates amazing Italian dishes. The pizza and pasta are yummy and his panna cotta is an absolute chefs kiss*. Fun fact – Grant used to work under Jamie Oliver!!

If you keep an eye out they also occasionally offer a bottomless brunch here. This is wonderful and the food and drink never disappoints.

REM’S CAFF
I saw Rems all over Instagram before I eventually got chance to go. The photos/videos they post of their sandwiches and burgers are absolutely mouthwatering. Rems is found just outside of the main town of Newquay (TR8 4DS) on a business park.

They have a menu with a selection of breakfast options, sandwiches, bagels and plenty of other items but they also have a specials board. These specials are usually announced on their social media channels first which tempt you to get there straight away.
I went for brunch with my friend and we got two items off the specials menu to share. We had the breakfast tacos which were AMAZING – they even gave us gloves to eat these as they get messy. We also had the double cheese bacon burger off the specials and that was delicious too.

Fat Pepper
Fat pepper is found in Wadebridge (PL27 7AW) hidden on a little side street. We actually did initially get a bit lost trying to find it using google maps but we got there in the end.
Fat Pepper is primarily a sandwich shop that does massive sub rolls but they also do ramen bowls. We mixed and matched and got one sub roll and one ramen bowl and both were absolutely incredible. We particularly loved the ramen though!! The fudgy soy egg was 10/10 and the ramen had a very good kick to it.

I read on their Instagram that they are going to be changing things around and not serving the ramen all the time as they head more towards more of a brunch vibe. They are going to be doing ramen nights twice a week and launching a new breakfast/brunch menu, so watch this space.

Croust Hut
This is an absolute hidden little gem, I would never have found it if it wasn’t for Instagram. It is found just outside of Camborne (TR14 9HW). It is set in a very quiet/remote location surrounded by old tin mines.
They serve breakfast and lunch and close at 2pm so make sure you go before then!

The food here was delicious and the portions were HUGE. We actually really struggled to finish ours but maybe we just had eyes bigger than our bellies to be honest as the menu was just too good!!
We ordered the Korean fried chicken thighs and the Asian loaded fries and both of these were incredible. The fries were very fully loaded. It is always disappointing when I got to a restaurant and after eating the top layer you are just left with plain fries, but that was absolutely not the case with these!!

Jam Jar Kitchen
This place is a pizza lover’s dream. The pizzas here are to die for and when I tell you that they serve the best cheesy garlic bread that I have ever eaten I am not kidding at all.

This is another restaurant slightly off the beaten track – it is found in Crantock, Newquay (TR8 5RB).
The outdoor seating is glorious on a sunny summers day and it is also dog friendly. It is well decorated with lovely greenery and I always really appreciate the beautiful toilets here.
It is very near to Crantock beach so if you didn’t want to eat in you could always take your pizza away to sit and enjoy on the beach with a beautiful sunset. They don’t take bookings and it is a very popular pizza place – when I posted it on TikTok last year my video went crazy viral (which probably doesn’t help how busy it gets… oops). I would advise going slightly earlier for dinner to beat the crowds.

Talay Thai
Now this has been somewhere I have got takeaway from many times and I always forget that it also has a beautiful restaurant. This restaurant is found in St Ives (TR26 1LF) and has the most beautiful view overlooking the harbour.
This restaurant is very well known and when you ask somewhere to get the best Thai food from in Cornwall they always respond with “Talay Thai”.

They have a huge menu with so many different options. When I get takeaway from there I always go for the Thai green curry and rice and it is absolutely stunning. When eating in I like to go for the tapas options – the ribs are absolutely phenomenal!!
They also have a cocktail lounge on the bottom floor which serve really beautiful cocktails again with a beautiful view of St Ives Harbour.
